Gears of War 3 Beta Impressions

So by a huge fluke I grabbed a Gears of War 3 beta code on Twitter, from this random person who tweeted it hours before I did the search. Surprised that it wasn’t taken, I downloaded it and went in expecting the multiplayer portion to feel much like Gears of War 2, minus the host advantage and terrible hit detection. The Gears of War multiplayer has always shown promise to be amazing but with each sequel, old problems are fixed, new ones are then introduced. This was Epic’s last chance to deliver the multiplayer the fans always wanted; so far they have done just that.

Kane and Lynch 2 Demo Impressions

I’m not too familiar with the Kane and Lynch series, so Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days wasn’t something that I would pay much attention to. After downloading the Kane and Lynch 2 demo yesterday for no real reason, I was surprised by how unique the game looked.

Medal of Honor Beta Impressions

It seems that a lot of developers envy the success of the Call of Duty franchise, so they end up producing games that are very similar and have their own flavor to it. The developer DICE (the guys behind the Battlefield series) is making the Medal of Honor multiplayer which seems much directed towards the Call of Duty audience.

Halo Reach Beta Impressions

Since people on Twitter are so generous, I managed to snag a Halo Reach Beta code and I could not wait to start playing it. Compared to Halo 3, the character customization provides a lot more variety to personalize your character. There are some things that I wish they expanded on such as the color variations for your armor, but it’s still very early in development so more can be added.

Supreme Commander 2 Xbox Demo Impressions

I would never have gained any type of interest in playing any RTS game if wasn’t for Halo Wars, which successfully transitioned RTS games to consoles. Even though I did put over hundreds of hours into the multiplayer and successfully gained the General rank; I was looking for something that wasn’t so simple and restricting with the base building. Supreme Commander 2 seemed that it would provide more freedom, and also have more than just 3 units to build an army with. Supreme Commander lets you build what you want where you want; not on a predetermine piece of land that Halo Wars was structured around.
